i went to go and see russell howard on sunday. he's lovely jubbly. i mean, i went to see him november 2008 (which was last year, oh my god time flies?) and he was AMAZING, so i decided to go see him again. but he was looking pretty tired this time round and a whole lot grumpier, and the support act wasn't as good. so i preferred november. also, november had that amazing sort of, "oohhh christmas is coming and all the lights are pretty and twinkly and there aren't as many rapists on the streets of ________ because they're out doing their christmas shopping, aah lovely" feeling and it was just me and my sister tentatively stepping into the big wide world of 'stand-up comedy gigs'. and it was lovely. i wore this;
jumper, mum; necklaces, miss selfridge; headband, accessorize; shorts, peacocks
but of course, with tights, because it was bloody cold and raining. i felt like a MASSIVE hipster, and also a pixie because that headband made my ears stick out in a legolas sort of way. (see? clothes AND comedy).
anyway, russell's support act in november was a comedian named steve hall, who was freaking hilarious, and i recognised him but i wasn't sure of where from. well, NOW I KNOW! he's part of a comedy trio named we are klang who featured heavily on a BBC3 late-night comedy show called the wall. i think about 7 people watched it in total, and 2 of those were me and my best friend of the time sophie. we watched it religiously! every week, without fail, we'd watch it on bbc iplayer (because it was on too late, ha!) and every week we'd be quoting we are klang sketches. well, i've been snooping around and here's something that i thought was hilarious.
and if you liked that, you'll ADORE this ('cause i do). "the sausages represent pollution!" it takes some getting used to, don't worry.
see, clothes AND comedy. magical combination. tune in next week for holly walsh, jack whitehall and clips from the new series of mock the week (thursday, bbc2, 9pm, SO EXCITED). kidding. or am i...?
